Simcity 4 PC Review

Be a Mayor, be god.

Game is reviewed with the following expansion pack:
Simcity 4 Rush Hour

Gameplay: 9

The whole game goes like this:
You will start as god, you can alter the land, into mountains or make a mesa in the middle of the ocean. Or make a pradise isle with wildlife sprawling all over it. As you are god, you can do anything. You can unleash disasters like meteors and volcanos, send tornadoes or make forest fires. All for the added effect, each of the disasters are rendered beautifully.

As Mayor, your job is much harder. It is not like Simcity 2000 or 3000 anymore. The game just got harder. Build a power plant and lower its funding or it will be wasting too much electricity for a small city. Build a school fast or your Sims ( citizens ) would have no education for working. Build roads, zone areas for construction and let your city grow. The game is so hard, you'll be trying countless times trying to get your city up and running. I finally got a city running after 9 failures.

If you are bored or stressed out, unleash hell on your city. Drag a tornado through your city and watch the cars, plants and people fly. You can play both god and mayor at the same time. So being god, you can use the disasters in the easy drop down menus. Cause the [insert your city name here] great fire, or rain meteors on your city. You'll enjoy watching buildings collaspe soon enough.

The score is 9 because of the difficulty, no easy mode, just §100,000 and luck to start with. The game is CPU intensive, calculating each and every of your citizen lives, like their occupation and where they live. And pathfinding so that they won't get lost in the city. This game will lag.

The expansion pack, Rush Hour, inserts new types of roads like one way roads and avenues plus new transportation design and many more new features. A cool and useful feature allows you to see the paths of Sims when they go to work and back home. This feature is useful as you would know where to improve (or demolish) to make the path much better. Rush Hour also introduces "U-Drive-It" mini games where you, the mayor, have to complete missions right in your own city. Lay your roads wisely, as it is much harder than you think.

NEVER UNDERFUND YOUR FIREMEN OR YOU GET GAYS TRYING TO GRAB THE HOSE.

Graphics: 10

One word: Outstanding

Highly detailed, down to the little people. You can watch small Sim students board the school bus in the morning, or watch a sim trying to catch a tiny butterfly with a even more tiny net. It is so highly detailed, even supercomputers have a problem handling this game. Every building have its own life, you can see soot forming on the buildings if you got coal power plants running your city. You can see traffic moving on the highway. So detailed, so laggy. ;-)

Hell is unleashed

Sound: 9

Good but there is a slight problem with a few things, some of your city's sound is muffled and soft. God Mode Music sucks and Mayor Mode Music is awful. Put your MP3 inside for better gaming quality.

Replayablity: 9

No ending like any other Sim game. Keep playing till your CPU explodes! Though this game have no ending, it feels like a fun groundhog day casue when you are sucessful, it is rewarding.

Reviewer's Opinion: 8

The freedom in the game is rather controlled, it took me quite a number of times to start a city, but when I got a sucessful city, it felt good like you have scored As for everything. One point off due to the lag in the game. Another due to the insane difficulty and trail and error style of the game.
Run your city well, young Padawan.
9.4/10
